RREALLITÉ is a dystopian pop record exploring the sudden hypnagogic tension between humanity and a techno-feudalist society, shaped by digital illusion, environmental collapse, AI accelerationism, data surveillance, genetic manipulation, and creeping fascism. Cinematic, frenetic, and compulsively danceable, it hallucinates a future seeping eerily into the present.

Blending kinetic, synth-driven darkwave and a flair of French Touch, RREALLITÉ feels as if Depeche Mode were scoring a science-fiction film.

The album was written in Los Angeles in the summer of 2019, on the eve of a pandemic no one saw coming. When Covid abruptly froze the world, RREALLITÉ was put on hold, the record suspended in a temporal limbo. As 2020 blurred into the years that followed, the lyrics felt more and more prescient.

By 2025, coinciding with Leon’s return to New York, the record was reactivated and completed through additional mixing sessions with longtime collaborator Kaia Fischer (Rainer Maria). The earlier rupture proved to be part of the album’s DNA: an oracular, pre-Covid vision of dystopia, completed from inside the very reality it seemed to anticipate. 

In that context, Léon’s final choice to introduce specific AI-prompted elements into the already-completed record felt foreordained - a conceptual stress test probing authorship, truth, and presence, asking how much humanity can be retained once the machine enters the frame.

The result is music that oscillates between human connection and sudden alienation, between conscious control and acquiescent chaos. Like TENET's "detritus of a coming war,” the album seems to have traveled backward in time.

Philosophical pop hooks unfold across shifting styles and tempos, each track ricocheting through peaks and valleys as if excavated from different futures. Sebastien Leon describes it as a form of “future-archaeology pop”: catchy songs shaped by the constant paradigm shifts of our time. 

Sebastien Leon's background as a pluri-disciplinary artist gives the project a rare aesthetic coherence, bridging music, image, and narrative into a single conceptual world. As a result RREALLITÉ conjures an evocative artistic ecosystem living at the intersection of indie culture, contemporary art, and speculative fiction. It is dystopian pop we can dance to. It is an eerie new world we have started to step into. 

“I wanted to make a record that speaks to the absurdity of our time, being lured to live our lives in simulation, scrolling through a reality that’s melting out under feet,” says Leon. “It is cynical, displaced, resigned, and yet sinisterly upbeat.”
